“As an artist and passionate nature and landscape photographer, I always look for the most intimate aspects of the scene, and then reveal its beauty in a form of expressive photography.”
ARTIST BIO
Greg Boratyn is a Southern California-based landscape photographer with a two-decade journey in photography. While his photographic odyssey began 20 years ago, his true passion blossomed with the advent of digital photography. What ignites his creativity is the process of transforming his images on a computer, striving to mirror the breathtaking landscapes that captivate his own eyes.
In pursuit of authenticity, Greg employs straightforward techniques, steering clear of an over-processed aesthetic often associated with High Dynamic Range (HDR) methods. His muse lies in the exploration of unique, seldom-seen corners of the world—places untouched by human presence or artificial structures. His ultimate objective is to encapsulate the intrinsic beauty of these natural realms, unadorned by human influence.
While his heart leans towards the majesty of seascapes and mountainscapes, Greg finds joy in exploring the realms of night and occasionally delving into the intricate world of macro photography. In 2018, his dedication to the craft was acknowledged when capturelandscapes.com named him one of the top 25 Landscape Photographers in the World. Additionally, Greg secured Second Place in the prestigious International Landscape Photographer of the Year contest in 2019.
The years 2020 and 2021 brought further accolades, as Greg clinched First Place in the MPI 6th and 7th IIC – International Image Challenge in Landscape/Nature and Fine Art categories. Notably, Greg emerged as the top winner in the 2021 International Nature Photographer of the Year, securing the second spot in the Nature category.
Greg’s images have been published on several photography educational websites, and published on covers of photography books and magazines worldwide. He has partnered with optical companies including the Florida based Singh-Ray filter and Japanese based Tamron lens company. Greg is involved in teaching courses on-line and in magazines such as Photography Masterclass, and runs photography workshops in north and south America.
Throughout the years Greg participated in San Diego art walks, and the Festival of Arts in Beverly Hills and Laguna Beach. His images can be viewed at high quality on his website: lucidshot.com
