Recently read Mildred Pierce by James M. Cain. Wonderful story! Also a great movie with Joan Crawford. His work is mentioned in this year’s Pageant “The ART Detective.” He must have spent some time in Laguna Beach as the main character in Mildred Pierce operates a restaurant here. Also mentioned in the novel is Victor Hugo’s Restaurant which was located at the present day Las Brisas.
Wait ’til you see the Pageant prop we call “Bogey!” It is a 1938 Plymouth coupe. A car just like the one that appears in The Big Sleep.
PS. Anybody out there own a wire fox Terrier? We need one to be in the show this summer.
