The Festival of Arts presents the Moments in Collective Memory: Festival Purchase Awards exhibit at Laguna Beach City Hall from November 18, 2023, to January 11, 2024. Highlighting acquisitions from the past forty years, this exhibit spotlights the significant collection of artworks that the Festival of Arts has acquired through the Festival of Arts Purchase Award. Carefully selected and gradually collected from exhibitors throughout the Festival’s ninety year history, the Festival Purchase Awards serve as part of Laguna Beach’s collective memory, tracing the lineage of Laguna Beach through representations of moments in time.

Moments in Collective Memory: Festival Purchase Awards showcases a wide variety of works from current and former Festival of Arts exhibitors. Artworks include “Cold Front” by Scott Albert, “Downtown Laguna” by Ken Auster, “Great Gray Day” by Ray Brown, “Times Square, Saturday Night” by Chris Bliss, “The Giant Cow Beside the Road” by Dennis Dunton, “Lighter than Air” by Jacques Garnier, “I am Dung” by Dirk Hanger, “Crystal Cove Standard Time” by Jeff Horn, “Raven” by Molly Hutchings, “Still Cold Air” by Markio Ishii, “Homework” by Kathy Jones, “The Gates – Christo, NYC” by Tom Lamb, “Electric Love II” by Elizabeth McGhee, “Festival of Arts” by Michael Obermeyer, “Birdbath” by April Raber, “Heart of Gravity” by Pegah Samie, “Afternoon Shadows” by Gerald Schwartz, “From Line to Color” by Norhi Uriu, “Silke” by Greg Stone, “Sunlight on Rockport” by Tom Swimm, “Once Upon Another Time” by Kirsten Whalen, “Ambala Cash & Carry” by Michael Ward, and “Koi” by Julie Watson.

The exhibit is held at Laguna Beach City Hall at 505 Forest Avenue, Laguna Beach, California 92651. The exhibit is free and open to the public Monday thru Thursday 7:30am to 5:30pm, every other Friday 7:30am to 4:30pm, and closed every other Friday and holidays.
