About the Class

Using a cigar box as your canvas, we will find meaningful images to design a collage. For a touch of color, we will add some paint and, lastly, bejewel it!

Meet the Instructor

Greta Silva, a happy painter from Costa Mesa who lives with her husband and doodle puppy, uses a colorful and vibrant palette that can be best described as Abstract Impressionism. Growing up in a creative atmosphere, Greta began watercolor painting as a young child. Greta received her B.A. in Psychology from California State University of Long Beach and worked in mental health following graduation. It was her love of children and teaching that drew her to a career in art education. She began teaching art in public schools and spent eleven summers teaching at the Sawdust Festival in Laguna Beach. Greta also managed the Sawdust Art Class adult year-round program for several years. She met many amazing artists there who introduced her to oil painting and became mentors and teachers.
