This winter at foaSOUTH artist Mike Tauber will present scenes of southern California coastlines, including La Jolla, San Onofre, and Laguna Beach, and the classic cars that took us there. Tauber’s landscapes convey a strong perspective, light source and shadow, and rich painterly surface texture. His unique car silhouettes, hand-cut and painted in a trompe l’oeil style, have a 3-dimensional look and create a strong presence in the room. The grout lines add a graphic, grid-like quality to the compositions. All works are hand-glazed, kiln fired original ceramic tiles.

Mike Tauber holds numerous national and regional awards including 2018 the Laguna Beach Arts Alliance Artist of the Year. He has completed commissions in Australia, Brazil, and Mexico. His recent public murals, many measuring 100 feet long, include Hawaiian Punch near the Fullerton Transit Center and Coastline to Canyon at Neighborhood Congregational Church on Glenneyre Street in Laguna Beach. He earned his BA Degree at the College of Fine Arts at San Diego State University and has exhibited at Festival of Arts since 1998.
