Express yourself through the art of comics! Illustrator and comic artist Joe Rocco will teach you how to create your own mini-comic. This dynamic, fun class will walk first-time comic artists through various themes and styles to develop your own short story and illustration. All skill levels welcome! Traditional materials will be provided; students are welcome to bring their own digital tablet if preferred.
Meet the Instructor
Joe Rocco is an American illustrator and designer with 25 years of experience in editorial publishing and animation, focusing on entertainment and children’s publications. He has published children’s books through Harper Collins, Scholastic, and National Geographic Kids. Joe’s whimsical style has appeared in magazines such as Sports Illustrated, Entertainment Weekly, Time, Forbes, and Disney. He illustrated the nationally syndicated column “Joe Bob’s America” for The New York Times for ten years. Joe has received awards from the Society of Publication Design and various newspaper awards like “Best of The West” for New Times media. He is available for school appearances, interviews, and book signings, and his clients include The New York Times, The Chicago Tribune, Harper Collins, and many others.
Class Waiver
All students (or parent/guardian if student is under 18) are required to fill out and sign a waiver before they can participate in a class. Waivers will be available to sign before the start of the class. You can expedite the check-in process by printing and bringing the signed waiver with you.
