About the Class

Want to get your hands dirty? Learn how to create and decorate with clay! More than just pottery, kids can create bowls, animals, flip-flops, and much more in one of the Festival’s most popular classes. Reserve your space early, these classes do fill up! Glazing is an optional next step for your ceramics piece. Come in one week to create the piece and come in the next to add color by glazing it.

Meet the Instructors

Marty Barth has had a thirty-five year history in the ceramic arts. After receiving a bachelor of fine Arts degree from California State university Long Beach, he went on to be a business owner, production potter, and designer. For the last eighteen years, Marty has worked as a studio potter, first in Costa Mesa, and later in Fullerton. He has received awards from Cerritos college, Hillcrest Fine Arts Show, and California State University, San Luis Obispo.

Scott Young, originally from Hawaii, is no stranger to teaching; his credentials include being a part-time professor at Saddleback College for nearly twenty-years and instructing ceramic classes at many other Orange County colleges. He earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in art at California State University, Fullerton.
