Gregg Stone April 12 – July 10, 2014

Explore the art of “Gregg Stone – Painter” at the Festival of Arts satellite gallery foaSOUTH on display April 12 through July 11, 2014. The exhibit showcases his current work juxtaposed with his paintings from the Festival of Arts Permanent Art collection. The public is invited to a meet the artist at a special reception on May 1 from 6 – 9pm during First Thursdays Art Walk in Laguna Beach.

“In his work, Gregg Stone presents environments and individuals that are typically overlooked or avoided by most people,” said exhibit curator Pat Sparkuhl. “Through his unique perspective and exceptional painting ability, viewers have the opportunity to dissect these powerful expressions.”

Gregg Stone is an award-winning professional artist who exhibits internationally. With masterful manipulation of watercolors, gouache and Japanese sumi-ink, Gregg developed his own style, which he calls ‘Modern Realism.’  Gregg paints typical scenes of everyday life in the Hispanic world, concentrating on the border region of Northern Mexico and Southern California. He wants to share with viewers some of its color and beauty, unique to this region where both American and Mexican artists have generally overlooked as an artistic endeavor.

Opened as a collaboration between Festival of the Arts and Active Culture, foaSOUTH serves visitors and residents of Laguna Beach by promoting Festival-related exhibitions throughout the year. Located at 1006 S. Coast Highway on the corner of Anita and PCH, the gallery has partnered with Active Culture to provide frozen yogurt and natural foods on the premises at their café.
