January 6 – April 9, 2015

Explore the digital artwork of Murray Kruger at the Festival of Arts satellite gallery foaSOUTH on display now thru April 9, 2015. The public is invited to a meet the artist at a special reception on February 5 from 6 – 9pm during First Thursdays Art Walk in Laguna Beach.

Originally from South Africa, Murray Kruger received his formal training in painting and printmaking at Christi College in London, England. He later developed an interest in digital art and pursued further studies at San Diego State University and La Jolla Academy of Advertising Arts.

Murray has exhibited his digital artwork at the Festival of Arts since 2006. His images feature classically inspired figure studies with futuristic environments. Using 3D modeling software, each element is sculpted within a virtual space with careful attention to texture and lighting to create a painterly effect.

“Art has to be re-imagined continuously or it is in danger of becoming repetitive,” stated Murray Kruger. “A painter uses a brush; I use a computer to bring my concepts to reality.”
