“The visual richness of the objects inspires each painting. It is my desire to create grace and beauty in a still life with a delicate, fresh, painterly feel.”
ARTIST BIO
A native of Southern California, Amanda began drawing and painting at a very young age. Encouraged early on by an artistic mother, her desire to be an artist was formed by the time she reached High School. During her College years a trip to the New York Metropolitan Museum and traveling throughout Europe only strengthened her interest in art and art history.
Amanda received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 1981 from Mount St. Mary’s University in Los Angeles, and began a career working in the museum field which included the J Paul Getty Museum. During that time she privately continued to develop her skill as a watercolorist. She soon found herself painting large floral commissions and home portraits. After 10 years working for museums, a new path opened and Amanda became an architectural illustrator. In the years that followed she began showing her fine art watercolors in galleries and juried shows. Once she switched her medium to oils in 2003, she took a leap of faith and has forged a successful career as a full-time artist.
Amanda is captivated by the endless possibilities of a Still Life, along with vibrant objects, textural imagery, and the graceful movement of light. For over 15 years Amanda has participated in National Juried Show and Outdoor Festivals. She is an Artist Member with the California Art Club and exhibits at the annual prestigious Gold Medal Exhibition. She has been published in American Art Collector and Southwest Art Magazine, and is represented by Chemers Gallery, and Huse Skelly Gallery in Southern California.
