“I love world travel and attempt to communicate my fascination of cities and urban cultural centers through my photography.”
As a native New Yorker, Christopher Bliss has always been drawn to the many facets of cosmopolitan life. He finds inspiration in urban skylines and in the challenging and invigorating lifestyles of cities.
Though always active in the field of photography, Chris began his career as a concert pianist, having studied Music in Vienna Austria, receiving his Bachelor’s degree at Manhattan School of Music in New York, and his Master’s degree at USC in Los Angeles. Since 1988, he has been traveling to New York several times each year and photographing the city as part of an ongoing project aimed at capturing the city’s evolving architecture and culture.
Chris has recently completed work on his second photography book on New York City, entitled Iconic New York. Featuring black and white, and color photography, with a forward by former New York mayor Ed Koch, it is an up-to-date photo essay of the world’s ever changing and most exciting city. In addition, Chris has produced several New York calendars each year for the past 17 years, which are published worldwide.
Chris’s work is represented by several galleries and is part of many private and corporate collections throughout the Unites States, Canada and Europe. Several of his pieces are included in the permanent collection of the Museum of the City of New York.
He is in high demand both for his fine art and for his work as a commercial photographer serving clients throughout the United States.
2016 will be Chris’ twenty fourth consecutive year as a Festival of Arts exhibitor.
