ARTIST STATEMENT

“I love world travel and attempt to communicate my fascination of cities and urban cultural centers through my photography.”

ARTIST BIO

As a native New Yorker, Chris has always been drawn to the many facets of cosmopolitan life. He finds inspiration in urban skylines and in the challenging and invigorating lifestyles of cities, a focus that he has directed to an ongoing New York City photography project for over 30 years.

This project has resulted in several photography books on New York City, the most recent, Iconic New York, a photographic essay on the world’s ever changing and most exciting city.

Though always active in the field of photography, Chris began his artistic career as a concert pianist, having studied Music in Vienna, Austria, received his Bachelor’s degree at Manhattan School of Music in New York, and his Master’s degree at USC in Los Angeles.

Chris’s work is represented by several galleries and is part of many private and corporate collections throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. Some of his photographs are included in the permanent collection of the Museum of the City of New York. His books are featured in many bookstores and museums including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, the International Center of Photography, the Frick Museum, the Museum of the City of New York, the New York Public Library, the New York Historical Society.

Chris is in high demand both for his fine art and for his work as a commercial photographer serving clients throughout the United States. In addition, he has been an exhibitor at the Laguna Beach Art Festival for 27 consecutive years.
