ARTIST STATEMENT

ARTIST BIO

Elaine has received significant recognition from both peers and clients throughout her 40-year tenure as an acrylic artist.  This self-taught artist was drawn to art at an early age and combined that interest with her fascination with detail to create her paintings.

A California native, she has achieved both local and national recognition with showings in galleries and art venues from California to New York.  She has been the focus of many one-woman shows and is an exhibitor at the prestigious Laguna Beach Festival of Arts.  She is a member of the International Guild of Realism.  Her paintings have been published in the French Artist Magazine Pratique Des Arts, Hyperrealism Magazine, The Artist Magazine, The Best of Acrylics, North Light Books Acrylic Works 6, and Acrylic Works 12.  Elaine completed a three-month Artist in Residence at the Historic Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens in San Clemente, CA.

When she considers an idea for a painting, she acquires the objects, arranges them until she achieves the image she’s looking for, photographs the arrangement, and replicates the image onto watercolor paper.  Then she begins painting, making adjustments to achieve her vision of the piece.  The acrylic paint is thinned until she reaches her desired consistency, then several layers are applied to achieve the desired effect.  This approach leaves no room for error, as once it’s applied, it cannot be lifted or removed to make corrections.
