ARTIST STATEMENT

“Photography is the means I use to interpret the natural world that I see, and experience the joys, the sorrows, the mundane, and the ironies of the human condition.”

ARTIST BIO

James was born August 28, 1943 in Sioux Falls, SD.

After graduating high school, James served an enlistment in the United States Marine Corp, where he became interested in photography. He moved to southern California and continued his interest in photography. In addition to being self-taught in photography,James enrolled at UCLA and
received a BFA degree in 1970 in Motion Picture Production.

Since then, James has been juried into national photography exhibits, been published in books, and has had one-man shows locally. James’ work has been purchased by people from Canada to Australia, locally to New York, Germany and Norway.
In 2013, he worked on assignment in Germany and those photographs were recently published in a book. James has been a past exhibitor in the Festival of Arts several times since 2003.

Since 1990, James has owned and operated a photographic business working one-on-one with clients to help solve their photography questions and projects, and assisting in the creation and illustration of their photographic projects, and continuing to work on his own photographic projects.
