ARTIST STATEMENT

“I’m using impressionist and American realist idioms to depict my vision of SoCal life in the early 21st century.”

ARTIST BIO

John was born in 1962 and raised in Paramount, California, the proud son of a postal worker and a nurse. Attending Art Center in Pasadena for a semester, he transferred to Cal-State Fullerton to continue studies in commercial art as well as drawing and painting.

After college, John moved to San Francisco, and showed early work at various retail and local galleries with other area artists. In 1990 he returned to Southern California and entered the commercial art world, continuing to work until 2008. Since 2008, John has making art full-time in his adopted hometown of Laguna Beach.
