ARTIST BIO
Lynn Welker is an abstract painter focused on the fascinating character of landscape views and ever-changing details. In Welker’s hands, each painting shelters stories that are waiting to unfold. Blending the familiar with the unexpected, she leads the viewer on a seductive path of discovery.
Raised and educated in Ohio, Welker earned a BFA and BS at the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, and Art. After moving to Southern California, she earned an MA and contributed her expertise to public education.
Today, Welker remains driven by the need to innovate. Without a preconceived notion of how a painting will look, imagery gradually emerges. Her paintings are intuitive, looking beyond the surface to reach deeper levels, where each work becomes a new way of seeing nature’s hidden depths.
When looking at Welker’s work, you quickly notice an emphasis on geometric shapes. These angular configurations help establish diagonal movement, which sometimes defines buildings situated on hillsides, near water, and among rocks. Equally important are the organic areas within the same painting. Combining hard-edged geometric forms with the softness of natural surroundings is essential to establishing contrast in each work.
Lynn Welker’s paintings have been exhibited in international, national, and local shows for over 25 years. Some of her honors include winner of Golden Peak Media’s *The Best of Acrylic*, NWS, and RSW International Exchange in Edinburgh, Scotland, and the prestigious International Signature Water Media Exhibition.
Lynn Welker is a Signature Member of NWS, National Watercolor Society, and ISEA, International Society of Experimental Artists.
