ARTIST BIO

Lynn Welker is an abstract artist who blends nature and design to create innovated landscape paintings. Through a dynamic arrangement of shapes, textures, and colors, Lynn reimagines natural scenery with a fresh, modern perspective. Each composition reflects a balance between abstraction and familiarity, evoking emotion and curiosity. Blending the familiar with the unexpected, she leads the viewer on a seductive path of discovery.

Raised and educated in Ohio, Lynn received a BFA and BS in ED from the University of Cincinnati. After relocating to Southern California, she earned an MA and contributed her expertise to public education.

Today, she continues to be driven by the need to innovate. Without a preconceived notion of how a painting will look, imagery gradually emerges. Her paintings are intuitive, looking beyond the surface, reaching deeper, exploring the effects of erosion, sedimentation, and the passing of time. Welker says, “I want viewers to get comfortable with being uncomfortable as they encounter a new way of seeing into the hidden depths of nature.”

When looking at Lynn’s work, you quickly notice an emphasis on geometric shapes. Equally important are the organic areas within the same painting. Combining hard edge geometric form with the softness of natural surroundings is essential to establish contrast and surprise within each work.

Lynn Welker’s goal is to temporarily shift attention from a world of technology to one that reconnects people to the richness of the land.
