ARTIST STATEMENT

“I love painting birds, as I’m fascinated by their colors. My love of Zen aesthetics and my background in goldsmithing create these unexpected mixed media pieces, where I try to capture a moment of wonder.”

ARTIST BIO

Marie discovered her passion for painting during her high school years in Quebec City, Canada. While in High School she enrolled in the Sylvia Araya Painting Academy, where she honed her skills and expanded her artistic horizons beyond aesthetics.

Embarking on a career, she relocated to Toronto and graduated with a Goldsmith degree. After a successful career in the jewelry industry, she rekindled her artistic pursuits and incorporated metal into her work. She paints in acrylic and utilizes gold or copper leafing and occasionally incorporated metal objects into mixed media creations.

Her passion for Zen aesthetics guided her in distilling her art to its essential elements, creating a unique vision that captivates the moment of wonder in nature.
