Monique Straub’s distinctive visual language is shaped by a foundation in technical illustration, art history, painting, and commercial photography. With a practice spanning more than three decades, Straub has sustained a dedicated full-time practice as an oil painter and exhibiting festival artist.

Balancing refinement with spontaneity, Straub’s work moves beyond representation, inviting a more emotional response. Luminous hues and energetic brushwork create a visual cadence that feels at once sophisticated and joyfully unrestrained.

Working primarily in oil on canvas, Straub often begins with her own photographic imagery, using it as a point of departure to reimagine the landscape through her personal lens. Her process is grounded in a reverence for traditional methods – hand drawn charcoal studies and the disciplined use of only brush, oil paint, and canvas – resulting in work that is both timeless in technique and contemporary in expression.
