Performer: Calabria Foti and Bob McChesney

Vocal sensation Calabria Foti and virtuoso Trombonist Bob McChesney bring their show to Laguna Arts Festival for the first time this summer, performing music from Be-bop to Broadway! Ms. Foti is a beautifully gifted artist who loves interpreting songs from the Great American Songbook and the Golden Age of Hollywood.  Her highly acclaimed CDs can be heard on jazz and adult radio throughout the world. In 2014, her duet with T.V.’s Seth McFarlane,  “Let’s Fall In Love”, received a Grammy Award nomination. Also an accomplished violinist, Calabria created the jazz violin sound of T.V.’s “Lisa Simpson”, performed the solo violin on PBS “Great Performances”, and films “Muppets Most Wanted”,  “Sherlock Holmes” and others.  She has hosted radio shows “Music Of Your Life” and “Siruisly Sinatra”.  Ms Foti has received high praise from legendary artists as diverse as Johnny Mathis to Van Cliburn.

World-renowned Trombonist Bob McChesney plays “with beautiful feeling and lighting fast technique” (LA Times). Bob’s unique “Doodle Tonguing” style of playing makes him one of the pre-eminent trombone soloists in the world. McChesney is a longtime mainstay in the music recording industry, having scored 100’s of film and television shows. Also a celebrated educator and clinician, and has spoken and performed at numerous Trombone and Jazz Education Conventions. Famed composer Lalo Schifrin said, “Bob McChesney gives us the joy of music at the highest level”. One of Bob’s career highlights was co-producing with legendary entertainer Steve Allen what would be Allen’s last recording, entitled “No Laughing Matter – The Bob McChesney Quarter plays the Music of Steve Allen”. His more recent release “Chez Sez” can be heard on jazz stations around the globe.
