Since 1933, “living pictures” at the Festival of Arts has entertained, fascinated and introduced millions to the art of tableaux vivants. From its earliest incarnation as a parade of costumed characters posing on a wagon stage, to the full theatrical production it is today, the Pageant of the Masters continues to delight and inspire audiences from around the world.
Pageant of the Masters Gallery of Living Art
This virtual exhibit celebrates the combination of theater and visual arts with photographs of the Pageant’s re-creations of works of art. During a performance of the Pageant, these pieces would normally appear on-stage for 90 seconds. However in this exhibit, you have the opportunity to stroll through at your leisure, marvel at the intricate make-up, costuming, set design and lighting that creates the living picture. And look carefully to see our volunteer cast members, holding their poses in each piece.
