ARTIST STATEMENT
“I create narrative-driven photographs that blend atmosphere, emotion, and symbolism to tell open-ended stories. Each image is crafted to feel like a moment pulled from a larger tale—inviting viewers to linger, interpret, and imagine.”
ARTIST BIO
Hugh’s work plays with both darkness and light, sadness and joy, sugar and salt, he is a realist.
He earned a two year degree in photography at Shoreline Community College, WA in the early 90’s. And, went on to study fine art photography at the University of Washington. He earned, yet another, two year degree, in Digital technique at Saddleback College in recent years.
During the late 90s Hugh played a foundational roll as Acting Director of Eye Drop Studios, a non-profit Media and Arts resource center, in the busy Downtown Seattle Area. After a move to Los Angeles in 2008, Hugh entered the commercial photography world, build relationships and assisted in Hollywood for several years, before moving to the Laguna Beach area.
