ARTIST BIO

Karin Worden lives and works immersed in the natural beauty of Laguna Beach. She is inspired by a sense of spirit in nature — the gesture of a branch, the lilt of a flower – a shout of color from a berry buried behind layers of leaves. Central to her aesthetic also are the clean lines and rich textures found in historic cities. Karin came to California from her home of Boston.

Her contemporary Botanical Art Jewelry is at once organic and graphic, textural and tight. All of her inspiration gets funneled through the process of goldsmithing. When at age 14 she first picked up a jeweler’s saw and torch, she began a life-long dedication to this ancient art. More than 30 years in, Karin remains both in awe of goldsmithing’s ever-interesting nature and dedicated hand fabrication, creating each unique piece one at a time.

Karin keeps connected with Boston, where she has a necklace titled “Waiting Boats” in the permanent collection of the Museum of Fine Arts. It was originally shown at the Festival of Arts.

Karin is grateful for her education, which includes a Master of Fine Arts from UMass Dartmouth; a Bachelor of Arts from San Diego State University, under renowned California National Treasure jewelry artist Arline Fisch; and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

For 5 years Karin owned and ran Silver Blue & Gold – a gallery of contemporary studio jewelry in Laguna Beach. She has exhibited at fine craft shows and galleries across the country and won numerous awards for her unique botanical art jewelry.

Karin maintains a full-time studio in Laguna Canyon, where she is available to collectors by appointment.
