ARTIST STATEMENT

“My artwork is a testament to discipline and patience, where each intricately detailed scratch reflects my commitment to this medium. While embracing the challenge of refinement, I pull the viewer in for a closer look.”

ARTIST BIO

Maaria Kader is a California fine art scratchboard artist. Scratchboard is a subtractive art form produced on a white kaolin clay coated hardboard covered in black india ink. Color can also be added. Sharp tools are used to reveal detailed artwork.

Maaria is a predominantly self-taught scratchboard artist and works from her home studio in Laguna Niguel, California.

She was first introduced to scratchboard as a teenager and she rediscovered her passion for scratchboard after being accepted into ISSA (International Society of Scratchboard Artists.) ISSA is an organization dedicated to the promotion and professional developement of artists with an interest in the excellence of scratchboard art.

Her art has been exhibited in galleries across the country including California, Arizona, Kentucky, Ohio, Florida and also across the globe in Australia.
