ARTIST BIO
With a strong creative foundation as a graphic artist for a leading motorsports company, Pilar seamlessly combines her professional design expertise with a true passion for photography — a medium through which she captures emotion, time, and fleeting moments with a distinctive artistic eye.
Born and raised in Santiago, Chile, Pilar’s love for the arts began at an early age. A transformative trip to Paris in 2008 reignited a love affair for photography, where she spent days immersed in the city’s streets, capturing its vibrant life and stories. Since then, she has traveled extensively, backpacking through remote landscapes with her camera in hand. What began as a hobby quickly evolved into a deep passion.
A self-taught photographer, Pilar has honed her craft through dedicated personal study and hands-on experience. She specializes in long exposure, architectural, and black & white photography. In her current seascape work, she moves beyond simply recording reality. Instead, she interprets and reimagines it—masterfully using the interplay of light and shadow to emphasize form, depth, and atmosphere. Her images are carefully processed to create a distinctive, almost three-dimensional visual language that is uniquely her own.
Pilar’s fine art photography has been exhibited in numerous shows, galleries, and private collections since 2013. This year marks her 8th year as an exhibitor at the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts.
