“Maquinitas: My approach to the fascinating world of miniature machines.”
Roberto Brun was born in Argentina to Italian immigrants. His father’s side of the family were watchmakers, goldsmiths, gunsmiths and knife makers and his mother’s side owned art galleries.
Roberto came to the United States in 1962 at the age of 18. His first job in the US was hand engraving in a jewelry shop in Beverly Hills, California. Two years later, he was hired by a larger jewelry store and they took notice of his ability to design jewelry. Roberto began attending Art Center in the evenings over four years, working for the store in the daytime. His profession took a big turn when he became their designer and won many awards in design for them.
In 1980, Roberto moved to Orange County and set up shop with a friend. The next year, he juried into the Festival of Arts and has been continually juried in each year for over thirty years.
