“Dong Yang’s work can be read in many different levels that go from the emotional to the rational, it is a universal language that comes from a very personal approach. We can certainly assure that he is an artist that takes the time to contemplate and allows that almost meditative action to influence his practice.

Contemplation is indeed the first aspect that comes to mind when looking through Yang’s work, something about the time he spends within his thoughts is perceivable and it touches us with softness. The origin of this word seems important when going deep into Yang’s work, its etymology explains that it is an action of worship in a specific place where to gaze attentively and observe. one could define Yang’s time spent with animals that he has portrayed, as a mystic act of contemplation, meant not only to comprehend shapes and behavior of his subjects but to get in touch with something that goes beyond the physical dimension, something in the emotional and thus higher dimension.

Yang has found a unique way to shape the undefinable soul and spirituality in his relation to animals, which he has been close to always, becoming the symbols for translating hidden thoughts, emotions and whatever other feeling our cultural constructions are stopping us from freely showing.”

Yang is a well-established Sculptor and his works have been collected by museums, art galleries. He has won a lot international and national art awards and currently he resides in Orange County.
