Artist Biography:

Mariana Nelson was born and raised in Southern California. In her early 20’s she moved to San Francisco where she became involved in making art objects through reusing existing materials. Found materials, from reuse centers or from the street, she practiced feverishly until she developed a unique way of wrapping materials. Anything from dog hair, lint, found plastic bags; she transforms literal trash into an art object. Returning to Orange County, she further developed unique and aesthetic ways of taking used materials and creating art. She states: “My vision is to turn discarded materials, especially plastic waste, into something visually interesting and compelling. At the same time I hope to educate the public about the amount of plastic we consume and discard on a daily basis.”
